HK electric vehicles subsidy program for home parking

The Hong Kong government continues to promote the popularization of electric vehicles in Hong Kong. The government will prepare a $2 billion pilot subsidy program to subsidize eligible private parking lots to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure; the subsidy plan is intended to solve the basic technical and financial problems in the installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This plan will make it more convenient for electric vehicle owners to charge at home, especially at night, which can make good use of off-peak electricity hours.

In order to encourage car owners to switch to electric vehicles, the government has implemented a number of policy in the past few years: including tax concessions, the “one-for-one” program for electric vehicles, and provision of free floor space for new parking lots equipped with electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
